Since its founding in 1978, Resurrection Christian School (RCS) has served continuously
as one of the primary training and equipping ministries of
Resurrection Lutheran Church.
Both Resurrection Christian School and Resurrection
Lutheran Church are affiliated with the
Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.
Resurrection Christian School is open to members of Resurrection
Lutheran Church, as well as to members of the community at larger, and does not
discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in its admission
policies or in the administration of its educational programs.
Resurrection Christian School was founded as a full scale eduational institiution,
serving students from preschool through twelfth grade, but closed its Upper School
in 1981 after entering a partnership arrangement with Charlotte Christian School.
From that point the school operated as a primary and middle school until the reintroduction
of the ninth grade in 1994. An additional grade was added each succeeding year culminating
in 1998 with the school's first official graduating class in seventeen years.
The school has an administrative and teaching staff of 20. For the 2004-05 school
year, the Upper School has 72 students, a senior class of 10, and a student teacher
ration of 6:1.
Resurrection Christian School endeavors to be a Christian school in more than name
only. Rigorous attention is given to the development of strong character, personal
integrity, and social responsibility within all students. Students are taught and
encouraged to grow in servant-hood; and consistent involvement in a variety of ministry
practica and service projects such as working with the elderly and the handicapped
and volunteering with such agencies as
Love INC,
Metrolina Foodbank, and
Crisis Assistance Ministry
is a regular part of the required curriculum
of the school as well as a graduation requirement.

curriculum. All courses are taught at an advanced level; therefore, honors and college
prepatory courses are not so designated. We have two Advanced Placement (AP) course
offered at RCS at this time.
A 4.0 scale is used to determine and report student grade point averages (GPA's).
Courses are not weighted in any way. A cummulative grade point average that includes
all courses taken at Resurrection Christian School is computed at the end of the
junior and senior years. RCS does not rank students in their classes.
Resurrection Christian School awards diplomas based on the requirements for graduation
listed at right. In addition to the academic requirements, all students are required
to participate in community outreach and service projects in order to graduate.

Saints in Service
Guidelines and Requirements
The Saints in Service Program is a fundemental way to train our students in the
Core Values or Resurrection Christian School as well as a graduation requirement.
This program is also designed to aid them in discovering their natural gifts and
skills and employing them in the community. This service is desinged to take students
out of their comfort zone (family, church, neighbors) and into the greater community.
Because it is a promotion/graduation requirement, all students in grades 9-12 are
required to participate.
The minimum number of hours per grade per year** are:
| Freshman | 20 hours |
| Sophomore | 24 hours |
| Junior | 28 hours |
| Senior | 32 hours |
Students will not be limited to the minimum requirements per school year. Service
hours can be accumulated from 9th grade through the 12th grade and at graduation,
specail recognition will be given to those who have excelled in this area.
- 200 hours of Saints in Service will receive a bronze cord to be worn at graduation
- 250 hours of Saints in Service will receive a silver cord to be worn at graduation
- 300 hours of Saints in Service will receive a gold cord to be worn at graduation
Service hours completed during the summer will be applied to the upcomming school
year, not the previous year. Forms for summer service completed during June-August,
2005, need to be filled out and turned into the school office by August 31, 2006.
Students will need to complete the required number of service hours at an approved
non-profit agency. Students may also choose his or her own agency and/or project
with prior approval from the Saints in Service director. Services
for which a student is paid may not be counted. All student transcripts will indicate
the number of service hours completed.
** Allowances will be made for transfer students.
